MacCorp News April 2024

What am I reading and listening to?

I have never read a Celtic Brooch book after it was released until now. For the past two weeks that’s all I’ve been doing. I started with TOPAZ then SUNSTONE and now I’m halfway through BLOODSTONE.

Just a note about Isabella. When she said she was a sterile lesbian antinatalist, she was saying it for Sten’s benefit. At least I think so!

I found two passages that made me chuckle while reading BLOODSTONE considering what we discovered in MOONSTONE. I’m sure there are others:

Kenzie gave Sam a heartfelt look. “Don’t be so hard on yourself. The mom in ET had an alien living in her house for weeks and didn’t notice.”

And then later a conversation between Tavis and his father: “There could have been an ancient terrestrial civilization here millions of years ago. If we could find evidence of a previous civilization, it might help us discover better ways to achieve a long-term balance with the planet. Then we might not end up as tomorrow’s forgotten species.”

“Well put, Dad. Maybe there was an ancient civilization that blew itself up, and if we can find evidence of it, it might save us. But that’s not today’s problem. Tell me about the symbols.”

Also while reading, my muse messed with THE JASPER BROOCH plot and now the chapters I’ve written have to be rewritten. Instead of professor and trumpet player, Marcelle LeBlanc, going back in time by herself, her sax-playing brother, Bastien, is going with her, and of course they will get separated. It will be terrifying for both of them to be in a strange world and separated from their sibling. Who will handle it better? The Army vet or the professor?

As for music, I’ve been listening to the Commodores, Paul Simon, and Daily Mix 4 (Morning Jazz Background Club, Jazz Brunch, Parisian Jazz Lounge and more.)

One of the leading males in THE JASPER BROOCH

REMY BENOIT first appeared in THE TOPAZ BROOCH. He has the heart of a gentle giant, moments of prescience, and is intuitively aware of the pains and concerns of those around him.

He spent his early years in New Orleans. Prior to high school, his father died of cancer. When Hurricane Katrina hit, his mother moved them to Alabama to live with his aunt.

Remy is equal parts French Acadian and Spanish and a lean six-footer with dark hair. He tends to have a scruffy face with a killer smile, a baritone voice with a Cajun accent, and dresses like a Frenchmen — chic and put together — except while lounging outside reading.

Remy moonlights in a jazz band with one of his Army buddies and always has a set of drumsticks handy. When he discovers the LeBlancs are missing, he’ll lead a party back in time to find them.  The last two adventures have gone easy on the missing traveler.  It’s time to mix that up a bit — ba-dum-dum-ching

Audiobook Update

Patrick Zeller and Maryne Young are on target to start working on the audiobook in May.

Genealogy Tree Access

If you try to follow the clan ancestry, the genealogy tree has been updated through THE MOONSTONE BROOCH. The app should have updated to the newest version, but if not, you can follow the instructions in this documentation to download the updates. You’ll know you have the updated version if Violet is included and has an asterisk (*) next to her name, as does Erik.

If you would like access to the genealogy, email KatherineLLogan@gmail.com. You’ll then receive two emails with information and instructions on accessing the tree.
